Working Definitions being used in this website 

NGO: an organization that provides social goods to the people of the Golden Land (aka. Myanmar/Burma) and operates somewhat independently from the government structure. This definition is open to discussion; however, we would like to be more inclusive than exclusive in acknowledging social activities that directly benefit ordinary citizens. 

Local organization: an organization operating exclusively within the boundary of the Golden Land. 

International organization: an organization that operates not only in the Golden Land but also in other countries of the world. 

How do others define NGO?

It is non-governmental organization. Other synonyms such as: non-profit organization, non-religious organization, non-political organization, civil society organization, civic organization, grassroots organization and community-based organization are also used to describe such organizations.

Where is the Golden Land?

The Golden Land is a Southeast Asian country situated between Bangladesh, India, China, Laos, and Thailand. It is also widely known as Myanmar or Burma. Myanmar is the name recognized by the United Nations. This website may use the Golden Land, Burma, and Myanmar interchangeably. Nevertheless, these usages are not a representation of any political ideology whatsoever.
